It has been a very busy start to the year. The children are all working hard and settling into being in Kindergarten.
We continue to focus on a letter of the alphabet each week using the Animated Alphabet program. Continue to practice the letters: P, U, M, X, D, O, A, T, S and the words: top, stop, pup, up, ox, ax, mom, pop, dad at home. We practice saying the letters and sounds of these letters as well as writing them. Please continue to practice upper and lower case.
In math our focus has been on sorting and patterning. Be sure to ask your child what he/she knows about patterns and ask him/her to show you patterns around the house. The two big ideas we have been working on are that patterns repeat and we can figure out what comes next in a pattern. Here is a picture of some pumpkin/bat patterns that we made.
We have been studying about bats. We have learned that bats are mammals just like us, where bats live, what bats eat, and parts of a bat. Here are some pictures of bat art and bat homes.
It was a spooky Halloween around here with pumpkin carving and dressing up in our favorite costumes. Check out these pictures.
SKATING this month will be November 13th and 27th.
